Main uses

Metal mesh is often used in the construction of floor slabs, which are concrete structural elements that support the weight of a building. This construction system gives the structures greater strength and thermal insulation between the different floors of the building. In addition, these meshes can also be used to build walls, which is an economical and durable alternative. Once the wire mesh is installed, the concrete is poured. As the concrete sets, it encapsulates the wire mesh, making the structure stronger and more durable.

It is possible to customise the mesh design in two ways: one with clean ends to allow overlaps without the bars crossing (SD mesh), and one with gaps to facilitate overlaps (S mesh). Thicker meshes, from 8 mm diameter upwards, use this approach. On the other hand, thinner meshes, with diameters between 4 and 6 mm, are made of B-500-T quality steel.
